Hello and thanks for visiting our new enhance Web site.
China Miss has come a long way since its start in 1996. Just to get this new site up has taken a lot
of time. I want to take this opportunity to personally thank Ken in New York, Andy in Tinjian for getting this site live, plus all of our members for their patience. We still have some minor clean up and we will be doing that in the coming weeks.
The big change is that CMI no longer sells the personal contact information of our female members. I've changed it into more of a social network with features such as real-time chat, online notices, blogs, video and up to five photos online for all members. This, I believe, will make communication better while protecting the personal contact information of our members. Plus, all menu options are now avaiable in Chinese and English. You can find
out more about our features on
our site.
Along with the new site, I finally got around to purging the female members' database.
That meant removing a lot of female members who did not have an email address or whose
email address was no longer valid. I still have a ways to go in getting
a quaility database of female members. With the help of personnel in
Shanghai and Tianjin and the USA, we will begin additional marketing to attract members to this site
When I started China Miss in 1996, the Internet was new and I had been in
the USA for only a year. Meeting someone overseas from the USA didn't come with laws like the IMBRA. Back then, I personally entered all the profiles into a database. I received these from letters the ladies sent to me. I put together and published a quarterly magazine that features ladies on our site.
When the first Web site went up shortly after I started, it was little more
than static pages with ads and photos based on our catalogs and complicated method of paying over the Internet that involved send credit card numbers in two separate email messages. Basically we sold the mailing addresses of the female members. I often wondered why we didn't sell the personal contact information of the men who joined. Maybe becaue the women in China didn't have must money then. My, how things have changed.
Around 2000 the Internet took off and it became an acceptable
way meeting for romance and marriage or just to chat. I changed directions and opened up our
Web site for ladies to sign up online instead of sending letters. Of course, with this move it was impossible to confirm that the female members were who they said they were. It also opened us to spamers. At the same time, the Internet was
exploding in China and it was no longer hard to get access. When I left China
in 1994, few had Internet access, few had telephones and very few has cell phones.
How quickly things have change. Back then it cost over $2 a minute to call China. Today, through Internet options it can be free or at most about 3 cents a mintue. I realized that the days of selling addresses and catalogs was coming to an end and I had to update our site. That proved impossible
we had to begin from the ground up.
That's the story and I hope you will consider signing up. It is still
FREE for women and men still pay a small amount. While the site is meant for gentlemen from all countries
to meet the women of China, it can work the both ways.
There is really no barrier to anyone joining, however, it will always be an
a site where you can meet the men and women of China. Regardless
of why you join, I ask that you abide by our Terms
of Service.
For me, one of the nice new features is that I can now ban members based on an IP address. You cannot believe how much time was spent getting rid of members trying to spam others. Now, each member can block member they don't want to contact them. Plus, they can use Report Abuse link in each profile to let us know someon isn't abiding by the Terms of Service.
There are some products missing from the site that will be restored or added as I continue
this update. I still offer the Individual Tours to China, and I'm considering getting rid of the gifts, newspaper ads and translations. I will decide on this soon. Missing is our FAQ and we hope to integrate one soon and update our Library
of articles.
As always, I welcome your comments and you are free to write me at anytime. Please use the Contact Us form to make sure it does not get mixed up with Spam. Also, remember to add chinamiss.com to your whitelist.
Sincerely,
